Patrick Lee (MA'18) to receive Governor General’s Gold Medal

Tuesday, October 2, 2018

Absolutely wonderful news for alumnus Patrick Lee (MA'18) who we have learned is to receive the Governor General's Gold Medal during November convocation.

The Governor General’s Academic Medal was first awarded in 1873 by the Earl of Dufferin, and has since become one of the most prestigious awards that a student in a Canadian educational institution may receive. Awarded annually at Fall convocation to the graduate student who achieves the highest academic standing (one each at MA and PhD level).

Lee completed his MA in Archaeology this past year with co-supervisors Dr. Julio Mercader and Dr. Charles Mather. His thesis was titled: "Digging Droughts: Maasai and Palaeoanthropological Knowledge, Subsistence, and Collaboration in Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania Lee is pursuing further studies in a doctoral program at the University of Toronto.

Please join us in congratulating Patrick on this remarkable achievement!
