Dr. Eric Cheng (PhD'17) accepts assistant professor position in Taiwan

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Eric Cheng (PhD'17) who has accepted a position as Assistant Professor at the Department of Cultural Resources and Leisure Industries, the National Taitung University, Taiwan.

Cheng completed his PhD under the supervision of Drs. Josephine and Alan Smart, and Prof. Chui-ling Tam (Dept.of Geography). His dissertation is titled “Selling Fish across the Strait: Taiwanese Aquaculture, Trade Governance, and Sustainability”. In Taiwan and Hong Kong, Eric is applying his anthropological insights to collaborative projects with the indigenous people and local agricultural/fishing communities, as well as to his teaching for the university and general audiences. He is currently the president of North American Taiwan Studies Association, promoting interdisplinary knowledge and work.
