Wednesday, June 10, 2015

Two pieces of fabulous news for Daniela Navia who has been awarded the J.B. Hyne Research Innovation Award from the Department of Graduate Studies AND The Chief David Crowchild Memorial Award from the City of Calgary!

The Chief David Crowfoot Memorial Award is granted annually to an individual or group that has made an impact in Calgary for the benefit of Indigenous communities. It is a very important honour with a ceremony at city hall on June 11th at 1PM where she will be presented a plaque. She is joining the ranks of many prestigious winners including Indigenous elders and community organizations.

You can see a great summary of Daniela's work in a short video that was selected by SSHRC among the top 35 for it's Storytellers competition here.

What a wonderful honour for Daniela (Supervisor Saulesh Yessenova) and what a great difference that she has made with her project. Please join us in congratulating her on these excellent achievements!
