Amanda Melin receives Faculty of Arts Research Award

Wednesday, April 11, 2018

Congratulations to Amanda Melin (PhD), Assistant Professor and CRC (tier II) in Primate Genomics and Dietary Ecology who has received a Faculty of Arts Research Award (New Scholar) for 2018!

Melin’s academic home is the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology in the Faculty of Arts. She is also cross appointed to the Cummings School of Medicine (Department of Medical Genetics), and is a member of ACHRI. Melin was Assistant Professor at Washington University in St. Louis for two years (2014-2015), prior to joining our university in 2016. She was awarded her CRC in 2017. Melin’s research deals with questions of sensory and dietary ecology, and she uses a combination of behavioral observations and genomic approach to investigate the questions at the core of her research program. At the most basic, her research question can be phrased as: “what kind of information do primates collect about their world and how do they use it?”
