Figurines

Ceramic figurines provide one of the best means of recovering an emic perspective on how ancient Nicaraguans viewed themselves. Laura [Brannen] Wingfield recently completed her PhD dissertation (Emory University, 2009) studying figurines of the Tempisque and Bagaces time periods, with special reference to gender relations and ritual practice.
