Volunteering Information

During the Conference

We are now looking for volunteers to help out with various positions during the conference! Students who volunteer will receive recognition on their co-curricular record as well as admission to the conference. Students who volunteer for 8 hours or more will receive free admission for the entire weekend of the conference, while students who can't volunteer this much may volunteer for 5 hours and receive free admission for one day. All volunteers will be required to attend a volunteer orientation meeting.

The following volunteer positions are available:

AIRPORT GREETERS: In charge of meeting conference guests at their gates and escorting them to the taxi stands. Greeters must find their own way to the airport.

BOOKROOM/SILENT AUCTION: In charge of assisting guests with the available materials in the bookroom (this includes selling Chamool publications and providing order forms for other publishers, which may include handling VISA, M/C, cheque and cash payments ). One attendant per shift will be responsible for the running of the silent auction, and are expected to assist with the set up and/or take down of the books/tables. Silent auction volunteers will also be expected to mind the poster competition entries to ensure their safety.

FLOATER: In charge of providing assistance when required for different aspects of the conference. This includes posting signs, replenishing water at the beginning of each session, etc.  This position is only available to experienced Chacmool Conference volunteers.

REGISTRATION: In charge of distributing packages to pre-registered guests, along with registering new guests and selling tickets for the closing reception (this includes handling cash payments). The registration attendants are expected to assist with the set up and/or take down of the books/tables.

SESSION ATTENDANTS: In charge of assisting the session chairs with A/V material, along with handling the lights, closing doors during presentations, and ensuring that all attendees are registered and are wearing their associated nametags (security).

SET UP AND TAKE DOWN: In charge of assisting the Events Coordinators with all aspects of reception set up and clean up.
