Bio

Carolyn Reicher is cofounder and Past President of Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan, a non-religious, non-political, federally registered Canadian charity. She has two decades of community development work, locally and internationally. Carolyn holds a BA in Anthropology from the University of Calgary (’86) and is currently enrolled in the final course towards a BA in Development Studies. She works as the Manager of Service Design Support at Calgary Public Library, where she leads a team in the design and development of public library programs and services for all ages. Carolyn is the recipient of the Meritorious Service Cross (2018), Woman of Vision Award (2004), and YMCA Calgary Peace Medal Award (2002) for her work with Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan. She has also received numerous awards for her work in adult literacy including the Calgary Learns’ Life of Learning Award (2011), Canada Post Community Literacy Award (2010), and Literacy Alberta Award of Excellence (2006).
