Mackenzie Borau advises and coordinates the Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) at San Diego Zoo Global (SDZG). This graduate program focuses on community leadership and conservation action. Students pursue either a Master of Arts in Teaching in Biological Sciences or a Master of Arts in Biology. The AIP from Miami University, Ohio, is an inquiry-driven learning experience that enables students to work directly with world-class SDZG scientists, experts and partners while completing web-based coursework through Miami University. The AIP is an exciting and affordable way for students to pursue their passion for conservation while earning a master’s degree and maintaining full-time work. Borau started her career at SDZG as the program specialist and adviser and has recently been promoted to program manager. She has always had a passion for sharing her interests and scientific research with others including acting as a mentor to young women who are just beginning their pursuit of their careers in science (Operation Minerva, Cybermentor).
