Congratulations to Elizabeth Paris who published an article recently with her colleagues in the Journal of Anthropological Archaeology about an interpretation of a mass grave at the Maya archaeological site of Mayapan: "Violence, desecration, and urban collapse at the Postclassic Maya political capital of Mayapán"

This article represent many years of detailed analysis of the remains of at least 20 individuals associated with the Itzmal Ch’en group (CE 1302 and 1400) at Mayapán. The remains were subject to postmortem butchering, burning and scattering.

Paris will also be interviewed on the CBC radio program "Notes from the Field" this Monday (July 24, 2017) at around 6:45 am. For those of you not up that early we will post the link when it becomes available.
